The 2017 Christmas Box was the first weapon box ever released in Murder Mystery 2 that used Winter Keys to unbox. It was only available during Christmas Event 2017, making it a limited-time collectible. Each unbox cost exactly 1 Winter Key.
Since this box has passed, you can no longer obtain new knives from it. However, if you want to own any of the knives it contained, you can trade for them with other players who unboxed them back in 2017.
What's Inside the 2017 Christmas Box
The box contained 11 different knife designs with varying drop rates. The rewards ranged from common to godly rarity, with themed names fitting the Christmas event.
| Knife Name | Rarity | Drop Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Present | Common | 70% |
| Coal | Common | 70% |
| Elf | Common | 70% |
| Santa | Common | 70% |
| Frosty | Uncommon | 15% |
| Sweater | Uncommon | 15% |
| Tree | Uncommon | 15% |
| Gingerbread | Rare | 10% |
| Snowy | Rare | 10% |
| Green Fire | Legendary | 5% |
| Winter's Edge | Godly | <1% |
The most desirable knife from this box is Winter's Edge, the only godly weapon. Its exact drop rate is unknown, but it's under 1%. The common knives made up the bulk of unboxes at 70% chance each, while rare and legendary weapons were much harder to get.
How to Get These Knives Now
Since the 2017 Christmas Box is no longer available, you can't unbox it yourself. Your only option is to trade with other players who have these knives from when the box was active.
- Go to the Murder Mystery 2 game and open your inventory.
- Look for players who have knives from this box (especially Winter's Edge or the rare drops).
- Propose a trade offer for the knife you want.
- Be ready to trade other knives or items of similar value — popular old knives are worth more than common ones.
Trivia
This box holds a couple of interesting pieces of Murder Mystery 2 history. It was the last time the Winter Key's original design appeared on a box icon — the following year in 2018, the Winter Key's visual design was updated. Also, the icon used for this box was recycled and reused for the 2018 Christmas Box.
